How can I get involved with SOS Animal Resuce?
1. Attend a meeting: We meet the 2nd Monday of every month at 5:45 p.m. at the Grace A. Dow
library in Midland, conference room A. Come to a meeting and see what we are all about!
2. Become a member: When you become a member you are showing your support for our
organization and the work we are doing to reduce the pet population. With the membership fee you will
receive our quarterly newsletter full of updates and helpful pet articles. The membership fee also entitles you to cast
a vote during officer elections at the annual meeting.
3. Volunteer: We have need for all types of volunteers. Whether you have lots of
time to help out, or just a few spare hours every now and then, we could use your help. We need people to take phone messages,
make copies, work at the adopt-a-thons and other events, place flyers around town, work with schools on our
education program. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a
Volunteer Application and send it to us. We
will contact you ASAP.
4. Provide a foster home to a pet in need: We are desperately in need of foster homes.
Foster homes provide a temporary refuge to an animal in need while they wait to be adopted. These are animals whose
time has run out at the local shelter and they are in dire need to rescuing. SOS Animal Rescue will pay for all the
veterinary work and provide you with tons of support and assistance from other group members. Your job is to provide the
animal with daily love and care. Please fill out a Foster Home Application and send it to us if you are interested.
Our Foster Home Coordinator will call you ASAP.
5. Financial Support: Providing veterinary care to these pets is very costly. We are constantly holidng
events to raise funds. Any gift is tax deductible. Please call (989) 689-6198 or e-mail us for information.
6. Wish List: We are constantly in need of the following items:
Collars and leashes- all sizes
Crates- any size
Gift cards to animal supply stores
Stamps
Gift cards to office supply stores- for making copies, paper, etc.
Towels and blankets
Dog/Cat Food- premium brands preferred since many pets come to us malnourished
Cat litter
Scratching posts
